What would you choose? - Minibrute vs Minitaur

If you want to spend extra cash on synth this spring and had to choose one, which one would it be? Or maybe something else for that money ? Dave Smith or Waldorf or MFB stuff, or Doepfer Dark Energy?

My opinion is - if going modular in the future spare more money and wait or buy minibrute which could be useful also as an interface between your future modular you and computer world
What do you think?

  1. Both!

Other than their price point, they are fairly different instruments. If modular integration is important to you, the MiniBrute will probably be stronger (check the recent SonicLab review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7943bYSdVc).

In terms of synthesis features, the MiniBrute offers much more than the Minitaur. But, speaking for myself, I feel like I have enough general purpose omnisynths, and the unique, must-have sound of a synth is lost as distortion and lunatic modulation make up more of the sound.

For that reason, and because I wanted some Seba-style flowing bass anyway, I went with the Minitaur. But I have a reason to accept or even like the limitations so ymmv.

But again, they are so different. If you are sure you have reasons to love both, then get both! Or wait and get a Waldorf Pulse 2 when they come out :)
